Club Announcement – Macquarie University

The North Sydney Bears have entered into a training and development partnership with Macquarie University for the 2020 season.

CEO David Perry said: “This is really special news for the North Sydney Bears. Not only does this partnership provide a centralised training hub and exposure to Macquarie University’s first-class facilities, it opens the door for other opportunities to leverage the expertise and resources of both organisations.”

The initial phase will include the Bears NSW Cup, Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership and Jersey Flegg sides training at the Macquarie University Sport Fields and Sport and Aquatic Centre.

The second stage will involve opportunities to share resources including a focus on professional development and education benefits through the University for our players, coupled with an opportunity for student athletes and coaches at Macquarie University to learn from a professional sports organisation such as the Bears.

Head Coach Jason Taylor said: “The ability for all our teams to train as a unit on such high quality, rugby league-specific fields and use the first-class gymnasium facilities will have a tremendous impact on our on-field performance for 2020. The opportunity to partner with Macquarie University provides our players with a great opportunity to further their studies.”
